This wildlife ranch was part of the Painted Creek Ranch. The topography is typical for the Edwards Plateau ecological region. The Lydle Draw enters the ranch at the northwest corner with one finger running south by southeast and another finger bisecting the ranch in the northern middle section and runs south by southeast. The elevations at the draw are from 2100 MSL to 2140 MSL. The draw offers fantastic cover for the exotic ungulates and native species of wildlife that inhabit the ranch. The habitat consists of Live Oak throughout the draw and Ashe Juniper with Mesquite and prickly pear in the uplands.

This wildlife ranch is located in northeastern Edwards County, Texas, approximately 9 miles north of the intersection of Highway 41 and Highway 83. The Jackson Ranch is the main entrance to reach the wildlife ranch. It is located on the west side of the northbound lane of Highway 83 approximately 9 miles north of Highway 41.

The ranch is abundant in exotic wildlife such as axis and sika deer as well as some wild goats. You can't forget about the native white tail deer and of course feral hogs.
