Property Profile:
Great hunting property in the Medina to Frio County
transition area! The property provides an opportunity
to take in wonderful sunsets. The center of the
property offers great views of the western sky, the
northern side of the property and the southern side of
the property.
This tract is an historic CRP tract, no longer under
contract. Having been cropland, there are two OLD
wells that are no longer equipped, plus a windmill that
has not been proven. The current recently drilled a
small well for use as livestock and domestic water.
This tract is almost all bottom type land, no rocky hills
here! That means deep soils of high quality. An
overflow of Hondo Creek crosses the place on the
south side. In this overflow stream, a small tank
catches that surface water.
On the northern boundary is Tehuacana Creek where
it intersects with the Tehuacana Creek Road just
south of the Tehuacana Cemetery.
2010 rainfall has brought the habitat on! Quail are in
abundance. The property offers recreational
opportunities. A small hunters cabin serves as basic
weekend housing. Terrain:
Somewhat rolling with a natural swale which flows as overflow from Hondo Creek. With Tehuacana Creek on the opposite side (North), a nice hill rises in the mid-section of the property. Location:
Just 2.6 miles south of FM 462 west of Moore go south on Tehuacana Creek Road. In Medina
County that road is named, once you get into Frio County (just south of the cemetery) that road is identified as CR 1301. Access from the south and east is also easy. Closest City:

Tract fronts CR 1301and can be accessed either from the north off FM 472 or from the south and east from Moore on CR 1515, or from Hwy 57 on Tehuacana Road which turns north off Hwy 57 across from FM 3352. Trees:
Oaks, Soapberry (jaboncillo), sugarberry (hackberry) and elms are found along Tehuacana Creek, with some large mesquite across the tract and scattered thorny brush and white brush going south to more oaks, elms, and hackberry trees along the draw along the south land line. Cover:
As an old CRP place, the growth to brush conversion to farmland has been somewhat slow to progress. Fire had been used as a management tool in the past decade, during the times under contract (CRP). There are spaces for food plots. Wildlife:
Turkey, quail, whitetail deer, and doves are all in abundance in this area.
The small pond could be augmented to attract flights of waterfowl. Utilities:
Electricity runs into the property and is provided by Medina Electric Cooperative, one of the most reliable electric cooperatives in Texas. Fencing:
Low fencing surrounds the perimeter, some having been recently been replaced and some in need of replacement. Water:
As old farmland, there are three old irrigation wells. These wells are Carrizo wells. They are not functioning as we know today. an old windmill and well are near the top of the hill in the center of the property. It is currently not operating due to mechanical issues, however a new water well has been recently drilled by the current owners (within the past 12 months as of Aug 2010). This well services the camp and pen area. Home Features:
Hunting camp is small and very functional for small group hunts. Minerals:
